Epic War

"Yay!"

submission: Epic War

After playing this through for about the 4th time, I guess I have a good overview of the game.
First of all, this is awesome. And I mean AWESOME. Well, except for the beginning where it's really slow and at the point where my arrows are fully upgraded (but still not at the last 2-3 battles) and I just have to aim in a single position, start a barrage where ice, fire and lightning arrows constantly rotate and thus create an impassable barrier (which is, again, boring). Aside from that, everything works perfectly - the upgrades and units are all useful and worth their cost. Except the tower and the trap, they're only good to kill off goblins or orcs that somehow manage to get through the previously mentioned barrage. Maybe if you could build more of them, not just a single one? At least that was what I was expecting...
Aaaaaand... I was musing on what score to give. It deserves a 10, no doubt, but MAN, after the first battle with The End, my finger hurt like hell... Why isn't there an autocast function for units? It just screams to be there, if not in any other way, make autocasting for individual units an upgrade, but pressing "1" about 1000 times to keep the boss at bay? Ouch.
Still, it's a 10 :)
Perhaps there will be a sequel? I do hope :)
Keep it up!
Pejka

Got it on first try with only 2 ghosts remaining, so the person before me must really suck at computer games.
Though I must admit, it's REALLY annoying that I have pacman cornered 100%, and the ghost I ain't controlling just turns the other way...
This 100% random movement thing was just retarded, at least have them move towards the nearest wall while not controlled...

I'll try not to be overly critical considering this is a beta... but for fuck's sake, I shouted the circuits out of my computer out of sheer frustration! Why, you may ask? Actually, there aren't many reasons, but those are REALLY getting on my nerves.
The greatest one would be - hey, what's that sound of a tower building and WHY is my hard-earned cash replaced by "NAN"??? On certaion occasions, I click on a tower to upgrade it, but then it plays the aforementioned sound, and takes away ALL my money, for NO apparent reason. Now I've no idea what does this, but it sure is there, I got it at least a dozen times.
The second and third reasons are rather technical ones, concerning the splitting motherfuckers, which no matter how hard I try, there still remain like 10-15 of them by the waves' end. Either don't make them split TWICE, or at least give money for killing the smaller fuckers - like it would be normal, you know.
The third one concerns the towers and their prices. I found the anti-air towers costs disastrous - if you want to save up for two of them by the time they come, you'll stand no chance against ground troops. If it were me, I'd lower the costs and decrease effectiveness, but it's your game... And what's this, the first upgrade for the basic towers is more than the second? That's nonsense...
If it weren't for these (and there would be more levels, or a level editor), I'd consider BUYING this game like any other - you got a reeeeeeally good thing here, just try and clear up the mess and good times are abound ^_^

BotArena3

"yah"

submission: BotArena3
date: March 3, 2007

Yay, I just came back for the n-th time, and it struck my mind that I haven't yet reviewed this great game.
So here it goes...
Great!! This game's far superior than most other games on NG, and the fact that you've implemented things the reviewers mentioned... wish everyone was like that.
Graphics were great, sounds and music was perfect (though the arena music got a bit repetitive after all those matches, maybe add different music for different style arenas?), and the bot construction process was I guess flawless...
One thing though. One of the reviews struck a thought inside me. He said you should rename chassis to computer, and plating to chassis, and things like that. My idea might make BotArena not the game it is, but here it goes... I think the best would be if the base of a bot was the wheels. Well, basically what it uses to move, as it may be anything. This way bots might be different not only in armor and weapons, but speed as well, and from what I saw, it could make a major difference in the game if there was a difference between individual bots' speed. Next could come the internal components of a bot, namely the computer. That might change AI behavior (better computer means better logic), aiming, and response to human commands. And on top of that the usual plating and weapons. I might suggest adding the option of sideweapons, like you have a cannon as a main gun, and two small chainguns on the sides... well, it's up to your imagination :)
Even if in the sequel you follow the original bot construction, I'm sure it'll be as cool as the rest.
So keep it up,
Darth Pejka

"allright"

I just couldn't stand and just read those reviews before me... Specifically thantounderscore's review. You're just an ignorant bastard. There IS a way to get back money, even though only once per game, and there IS a way to beat that level; just because all you can think of as a good defence is having the most friggin' powerful gun in the universe doesn't mean that actually is the best. I'll let you figure out the rest, just explore around the upgrade section, maybe you'll find something...
Now maybe I can get to the actual review...
The game itself is great, though with several smaller flaws. There's one big flaw though; all done before. I didn't find this four-ways-firing mechanism too much of a novelty, especially since it doesn't provide enough firepower to match the power drain, the upgrade cost, and tha fact that you can get a little disoriented. At least that's what I think. I haven't finished the game yet, but at lvl 22-23-ish I'm perfectly happy with only one core upgrade, so if I'm in a tight spot I activate the rear gun. The upgrades and weapons were simply adequate. Not too shabby, but nothing new.
All in all, this is a great game. Not perfect, not amazing, but great.
And I'll leave it at that.

I know, the idea is old. But I've just finished StarCraft FA5 and I didnt want to start any serious project.

Well guess what, I just had the same thing not so long ago. Though I didn't get a shotgun blast in my face... She left me for some fuckass retard who hardly managed to pass primary, could never appear on dates, all he knew about a matrix was that it was a good film, etc.
So yeah, it's fuckin' true. Too sad. Ah well, you made your point.

Attractors 2

"Yay!"

That was fun for a short time, but there wasn't much to do other than repositioning the two magnets and the pads (or did I miss something? -_-)
Anyways, I had some fun creating something like a hydrogen molecule with the two magnets, and when you have a single magnet with a single dot orbiting around it, I found that it in fact DOES look like an atom with an electron around it.
'Nuff about science, the engine and physics are superb, but you should have the ability to modify many more things, which I see a few people already mentioned before me, so I won't detail them.
keep it up,
